Well here it is, my first blog post from halfway around the world. Let me tell ya, it feels pretty good. I'm really here! Traveling was almost too easy, I slept through most of it. Quickly realized that there was a ton of other CIEE study abroad kids all around me, including the girl I sat next to on the plane to Madrid. My travel buddy Myriah and I also realized we were still the only ones in the business and society program on our flight. Others are here for liberal arts or communications. They start orientation today but we have until Wednesday to do as we please. Another group is with the CIEE Teach program for a year to teach English and Americanisms to elementary through high schoolers…a program that sounded very intriguing…hmm...
I’ve been dabbling in Spanish, so far so good. When we got to the hotel, we met up with Heather and headed out for lunch. Scrambled egg dishes and red wine for all of us (common in these parts). After that it was time for a much needed siesta and shower. And now, here I sit, in my hotel room, chatting with Heather and Myriah about the adventures and blogging to be had. The sun has set (which it doesn't until after 9), the boys playing fútbol outside my window called it quits. Perhaps it’s time for an evening stroll…
